The short version
Revive keeps your health data on your phone. We have no accounts and we use no analytics, advertising or tracking. The only health data that leaves your phone is the short summary behind the optional AI explanations, and only after you turn them on (described below). We cannot see, sell or share the rest because we never get it.
What the app stores, and where
On your phone only: heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, breathing rate, sleep and its stages, steps, workouts (including heart rate, and routes and photos if you choose to keep them), journal entries, the profile you enter (birth year, sex, height, weight, goals), and settings.
Your wearable's Bluetooth key is stored in the phone's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, encrypted app storage on Android).
You can export everything to a file, and delete it by deleting the app or its data. Anything Revive wrote to Apple Health or Health Connect stays there until you delete it in those apps. We cannot recover your data for you, because we do not have it.
When the app uses the internet
Only for features you use. Health data is sent only for AI explanations, described below:
- Signing in with Zepp (to fetch your strap's pairing key, once). This opens Zepp Health's own sign-in page. We never see your password. The app token and user ID it returns are used for firmware checks and can be cleared by signing out or deleting the app. Revive is independent and not affiliated with Zepp Health. Zepp offers no public interface for this, so the sign-in and firmware checks use the same web services the Zepp app uses, with the Zepp app’s own identifiers. Zepp may change or block this at any time, and your Zepp account stays under Zepp Health’s own terms. If you prefer, enter your strap’s key by hand and skip the sign-in.
- Firmware checks, if you ask for them. These send your Zepp token, user ID and the strap's firmware version, hardware version and serial number to the update server.
- Spotify, only if you connect it from the workout screen. You sign in on Spotify's own page (we never see your password). Revive then asks Spotify what is playing and sends play, pause, previous and next. The sign-in token is kept in the Keychain on iPhone and in encrypted app storage on Android, and is removed when you disconnect. Spotify handles those requests under its own privacy policy. Controlling playback needs Spotify Premium.
- Maps. On iPhone, maps come from Apple Maps. On Android, a GPS workout map loads tiles from OpenFreeMap, and the optional satellite view loads imagery from Esri. A map service sees your IP address and roughly the area shown. Your route is never sent. On Android, the route-only option loads no map tiles.
AI explanations (off until you turn them on). If you switch on “Explain with AI” in Settings, tapping “Why?” sends a short summary of that day’s numbers (scores, a few daily values, and flags such as a Feeling unwell mark and journal tags such as alcohol or a late meal) to our proxy at api.revive.optionallabs.com, which asks an AI model (Anthropic’s Claude) to put them into words. The summary is built on your phone from fixed fields: no name, no exact dates, no free text, no location and no journal notes you typed. The proxy keeps nothing: no request bodies and no log of the summary. It keeps only two daily counters (calls per random install id or app-check key, and a total) to prevent abuse. Answers are labelled as AI-written, they can be wrong, and they are not medical advice. Nothing is sent while the switch is off, and you can turn it off at any time.
Proving the request comes from the app. To stop others from using our proxy, the app attaches a device check from Apple (App Attest) or Google (Play Integrity). They tell the proxy only that the request comes from a genuine copy of Revive on a genuine device. We do not receive your Apple or Google account.
Permissions, and why
- Bluetooth: to find and talk to your strap.
- Location: only for a workout where you switch on GPS, and for optional "arrive at a place" reminders, which watch the places you choose on your phone. Route points are used for distance, pace and the map and are kept only if you choose to keep them.
- Motion and fitness (planned): to notice a workout you did not start.
- Camera and photos: to add photos to a workout and to make a share picture. Photos stay on the phone unless you share them.
- Apple Health and Health Connect: to read sleep and heart rate your watch recorded, and, if you choose, to write Revive's data back. We read only the data types listed on the permission screen. Health data is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.
- Music: only if you connect Spotify, as described above.
- Notifications: for connection status, health alerts, reminders and workout prompts.
- Phone state and notification access (Android, optional): to buzz your strap for calls and notifications. The app never reads numbers, contacts, titles or message text.
Microphone
If you turn on the optional Snoring (beta) setting and tap Record snoring tonight, Revive listens through the microphone while you sleep. The sound is analysed on your phone, is not kept and is never sent anywhere. Only the times, loudness level and confidence of estimated snoring are stored, on your phone, and you can delete them at any time.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no data brokers, no selling or renting data.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Crash information reaches us only if you choose to send it from the App Store, Google Play, or by copying the in-app diagnostics log into a bug report. Never include your strap key.
- No profiling or automated decisions about you.
Not medical advice
Scores such as Recovery, Energy, Sleep and Healthspan are estimates for personal insight. They are not a medical device and do not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If you are worried about a reading, speak to a health professional.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 18 (or the age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Your rights
Because your data stays on your device, you control it: view it in the app, export it, and delete it by deleting the app. If you contact us about data you believe we hold, we will answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, India or California) you may have additional rights, and we honour them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the date below, and for material changes tell you in the app before they apply.
